United in the spirit of Austrian culture and deeply aware of the responsibility involved in this spiritual heritage, we have on this day established the AUSTRIAN COMMITTEE with the aim of keeping alive the idea of an independent Austria. In sign thereof we have affixed our signatures to this document. In the present war we stand wholeheartedly on the side of the defenders of humanity against the totalitarian powers. We pledge our loyalty to the Constitution of this country and are willing and eager to serve the government of the great Ameri- can democracy. in every possible way. We feel that offering our services to the uttermost of our ability and strength to a country to whom we owe liberty and new life and whose citizens we hope to become soon, is the least we can do to prove our gratitude.
