Ludwig von Mises to Franz J. Horch Letter, September 26, 1947
September 26, 1947
Franz J. Horch, Esq.
325 East 57th Street
New York 22
Dear Mr. Horch:
In a letter which came a few days ago from Dr. Ludwig von Mises, he
has sent us two letters addressed to :him from Editorial Revista de Derecho
Privado, Medrid, which we have translated into English and copies of which
I enclose herewith. Dr. Mises did not receive the first letter dated
May 28 until a copy of it was sent to him in their letter of September 3.
You will recall that in May 1945 you prepared a contract for us to
sign with Editorial Jus, Mexico, to cover the Spanish translation rights
of Mises' BUREAUCRACY. We have no record that the contract was ever returned
to us or that the advance payment of $100 was ever received.
Can you explain to us who Mr. Smith, the agent in Buenos Aires, is and
what authority he has to offer the translation rights of BUREAUCRACY to
Editorial Revista?
As Dr. Mises is very anxious to have this whole matter straightened out,
I hope you will give it immediate attention and let me hear from you at your
easly convenience.
Faithfully yours,
NVD:SK
