Irvington - on - Hudson,
New York
Dear Doctor Curtiss:
I should like to get detailed information
on your College=Business Exchange Program. Is there no fellow-
ship available for a European professor ?
As a reference I could State Mrs. Rose
Wilder Lane, R 4 Box 74 , Danbury, Connecticut, and eventual-
ly Professor Ludwig von Mises ( I shall ask him first - I write
you immediately, as I had only this morning the Foundation's
Information on Fellowship ).
I should like very much to be admitted, but
there is the question of the European professor and the travel
costs from here to the States.
My Summer vacation: 15th July to 15th Sept.
It takes, by ship, 6 to 7 days from here ( via Le Havre, France)
to New York. I could eventually arrange to have some days more.
I have a preference for Finance; manufactu-
ring or distribution. Besides my special knowledge as regards
business ( accountancy, commercial correspondence, commercial
arithmetic, mathematics of finance) and economics, I speak fluent
ly English, French and German, and some Dutch and Italian.
I am 30 years old.
I shall let you have all further informations
you may require should there be a fellowship available for me.
Hoping that you will be able to consider
favorably my request, I beg to thank you in anticipation and
remain,
Yours sincerely,
