Professor Ludwig von Mises
New York, N. Y.
Dear Professor von Mises:
Yesterday I had your " Planning
for Freedom ". y heartiest thanks. I started reading with
the last part ( XII - The Political Chances of Genuine
Liberalism ); it gave me some precious ideas for the pamph-
lets I intend to write in 1954 - year of parliamentary elec-
tions - for the liberal-conservative party of Luxembourg,
especially the idea: influence housewifes.
I am in so great a hurry: this
morning I received the Foundation for Economic Education's
paper on Fellowships in Business 1953. I should like to

last date is the 15th of February; please find hereby
copy of the said letter. I apply to you too, as my " protec-
tor ", Mrs. Rose Wilder Lane is on a trip to the south, for
three months. I have not given your name as a reference, as
I wanted to ask you first.
I shall write to the Volker Fund
too, perhaps they can be helpful to me.
I should like a fellowship in
Finance; I had already a practical experience 6 weeks )
with the greatest bank of Belgium ( Banque de la Société
Générale de Belgique, Head-Office, Brussels ).
Thanking you for all you can do
to help me in this matter, I remain,
Sincerely yours,
Mankling
P. S. I was glad there was a photo of yours on the book.
So I know you a little better.
Please find hereby a photo of mine you may even-
