Edward E. Pratt to Ludwig von Mises Letter, September 26, 1950
York University
SCHOOL OF COMMERCE, ACCOUNTS, AND FINANCE
WASHINGTON SQUARE, NEW YORK
September 26, 1950
Professor Ludwig von Mises
777 West End Avenue
New York 25, N. Y.
Dear Professor von Mises:
Your letter addressed to me at the American Express
Company, Paris, has just been returned to me here, and
I find the very courteous letters of introduction which
you made for me.
I am afraid that I shall now have to postpone their
delivery until next year.
I think I told you when I saw you at the Graduate
School the other evening that I had met the Rector of
the University of Vienna and had had a very pleasant
conference with him. Apparently, the University of
Vienna is prepared to do practically anything to facili-
tate the study of American students at Vienna. With
the cost of living as low as it is, they ought to attract
a large number of American students.
You may be interested to know that we are trying to
get an Austrian couple to come to the United States and
live with us on the farm. I had hoped before this that
we would be able to have you and your wife as our guests
there, but without servants it is a pretty difficult if
not impossible undertaking. I will probably see you soon
at the School and will elaborate on this matter.
With very best regards, and looking forward to
seeing you soon, I am
Very truly yours,
E. E. Pratt
Professor of Foreign Trade
