Dear Professor Mises:
I apologize for not having kept you better informed on the Baudin matter.
The most recent developments took place while you were in Europe this
summer.
The book was translated by Katherine Woods, and the manuscript has
been turned over to Florence Norton, who at the time we began dealing
with her on the matter was Henry Regnery's New York representative.
I am asking Ken Templeton, who is handling the liaison responsibility on
the project now, to ask Miss Norton to make a copy of the manuscript
available to you so that you can send it now to Professor Baudin for his
comments and for his changes.
I am surprised that Henry Regnery has forgotten about the matter. A
conversation some time ago convinced me that Henry Regnery would pub-
lish the volume if a subsidy were provided. He asked me to handle the
matter through Florence Norton, and I guess he has forgotten all about
it. This does not constitute much difficulty as far as I am concerned.
I know that it can be straightened out very readily.
Miss Norton has suggested that another publisher might be better for the
book than Regnery, and we approved her taking up the matter with her
contacts in New York City. I have not recently heard of the outcome of
this, but am sending a copy of this letter to Ken Templeton in order
that he may follow up soon. If the efforts in New York fail, the Fund is
committed to getting the volume into print and I am quite certain that it
can be done to the satisfaction of Professor Baudin and yourself.
