Dear Professor von Mises:
It was a great satisfaction and an honor that I was able to
meet you and hear your lectures recently at N.Y.U. I am
grateful for your reception of Joseph Galambos and me,
and I wish to thank you for the investment of your time from
your busy schedule to talk to us. I sincerely hope you may
soon find it to be a worthwhile investment.
With the recent elections past, I look forward to increasingly
effective action to stem the red tide of collectivism. The
task is one which I consider the most urgent and formidable
of all human history. Yet, I can see no challenge of greater
importance or reward. I wish to acknowledge your tremendous
and essential contribution to the task; namely, the concise
definition of the disease and the rational exposition of the cure.
With these tools you have fashioned I am optimistic that the tragic
cycle of human history may be damped out. History will not
record my efforts to implement your works with action if I fail
but I am sure your writings will prevail to explain the cause and
effect of the rise and decline of civilization.
Thank you again for your kind attention during my visit to
New York and best wishes for your continuing good health.
Sincerely yours
and
Alvin Lowi, Jr.
