Professor Dr. Ludwig von Mises
777 West End Avenue
New York 25, N. Y.
Dear Professor Mises:
I talked to Lawrence Fertig and invited him
very cordially for the Friday meeting. Since his know-
ledge of German is not adequate he asked to be excused,
and I undertook to explain to you that his absence is
neither due to a lack of our hospitality nor to a lack
of his appreciation.
I have written to Charlotte Friedman and
hope she can make it. I learned that Gertrude Lovasy,
of the IMF, would very much like to be present. You
will remember that she was a member of the National-
bkonomische Gesellschaft. I am calling her up to
invite her.
I probably have not fully explained the place
of our meeting. You will find it described on the en-
closed sheet. I have also reserved a double room for
you at Lowrie House.
If you come by train, please let me know so
that I can meet you at the station. If you come by
car, I wish you would call me as soon as you arrive.
Our telephone number at home is: Walnut 4-2109; my
office telephone number is Walnut 1-6600, extension
2102 (or 2101 if the first does not answer).
Sincerely yours,
Frilt
Fritz Machlup
