Ludwig von Mises to Frederick Nymeyer Letter, October 6, 1964
October 6, 1964
Mr. Frederick Nymeyer
366 South 166th Street
South Holland, Illinois
Dear Mr. Nymeyer:
Immediately after my return to New York I sent to Professor
Klaasen the permission he had required.
Concerning the Etas-Kompass: There is from my point of
view no reason not to give them the three months option they re-
quire. But it would be unwise to give them the Italian rights
without obliging them to publish the Italian edition within a
reasonable time. I would therefore suggest that in case they
require before the end of the option period a contract granting
them the Italian rights, to add to the agreement the following
clause:
"This authorization to publish an Italian-language
edition of the book 'Planning for Freedom' is granted under
the condition that the Italian edition will be ready and
available for sale in book-stores not later than January
1st, 1966. Should this not be the case, the publisher
and the author are free to make any use of the Italian
rights they want."
I am enclosing the letter of Etas-Kompass of July 1st and
the annex.
Yours very truly,
Etas-Kompass
