Henry Regnery to Ludwig von Mises Letter, April 2, 1965

Dr. Ludwig von Mises
777 West End Avenue
New York 25, New York
Dear Dr. von Mises:
We still haven't come to an agreement with Yale University
Press concerning HUMAN ACTION, but the subject is still
very much alive. Not having had a reply in answer to my
letter to Mr. Kerr, I called him a few days ago to inquire
how matters stood. He told me that they were still inter-
ested in letting us have rights to the book, but first wanted
to find out whether anything could be done with the existing
plates SO that they could be used. He expected to have a
report momentarily from their production department, after
which he would make an offer to us and let us see samples
of the sort of printing job that could be made in the event the
existing plates could be brought up to standard. I haven't
heard from him, but I am sure I will.
Itwould, of course, be much easier for us if the existing
plates could be used, but unless they can be improved SO that
a first rate printing job can be made with them, I think it
would be better to reset the whole book. Do you have any
Henry
further changes or corrections?
Regnery
Leonard Read has very kindly placed an advance order for
the book as an added inducement, which I greatly appreciate.
Company
I very much hope that we can work things out soon with Yale,
and I look forward to having this very distinguished book on
PUBLISHERS
our list.
