Dear Dr. von Mises:
I
am writing to tell you how truly delighted I was to
receive your two books, Human Action and The Theory of Money and
Credit, each of them with your autograph. I confess that I have
not owned either one so have had to use the copies in our Bank 's
Financial Library. It will be a real pleasure to have them at my
finger tips. I am most grateful to you and to your seminar for
thinking of me, and am especially grateful to Mr. Hodes who made
sure that I did not already own the books.
I much enjoyed your seminar despite the fact that our
prognostications had to be so gloomy. I spent yesterday in
Washington and came away with the strong impression that the
fundamental problem is still by no means adequately recognized.
With warm good wishes to you and your charming lady
for the New Year.
Sincerely yours,
John Exter
