April 11, 1952
Doctor Polix withmor
395 Grove Street
Upper Hontelair, II. J.
Dear Doctor Wittmor:
I read your manuscript with great interest. It
is a vory good and brilliant piece although I disagree
in some minor points.
P. 3: I do not think that Communism and Social-
ism are by definition
lds apart. n The torus
were until 1917 used CB synonyms. Since 1917 they sig-
nify different political methods for the attainment of
the same goal.
P. 4ff: I do not llke the distinction between
autochtonous American ideologies and imported alien ones.
How about Christicnity, uritanism, natural law, domocra-
cy, laissez foire? They all were imported.
P. 4: The socialist idea CAMO to Germany and
to Mark IPOIN France via Loronz von Stein.
P. 6ff; Your critique of the American education-
al institutions is excellent.
P. 8: I think the 15 volumes report of the Are.
Hist. Ass. deserves a special article.
P. 9: Also the II. E. A.
I never not Mr. Do witt Wallace and I do not
think that he will attach much weight to my recommon-
dation. We probably believes that my taste is too
scholarly end too heavy for the millions of his readers.
Hoping to soe you very soon
Sincerely yours
