Dear Dr. von Mises:
Thank you for arranging translation of the Kelsen
b
book. It is a challenging task.
After spending three full days on the first nine
pages I realize that the job will take me several II
months.
I think I can do a job which does "elsen justice.
My great difficulty is that there is no German-English
Philosophical Dictionary. Muret-Sanders is incompatible.
Thus, it is hard for me to ascertain a F E W terms.
For instance Erkenntnis. Is it cognition or knowledge ?
Weturteil. Is it judgment of values? And what does
Adler mean by uretilen and beurteilen? I am stuck
there.
Otherwise I manage. Some sentences are so long that
they have to be dissolved into several phrases. An
American, in 1952, would say much of this inshorter
and fewer sentences. ( Which is not meant to be any
criticism at all. )
I hope that you are enjoying a pleasant vacation.
Faithfully,
Fallen Williams
