Felix Wittmer to Ludwig von Mises Letter, January 31, 1954
Jan. 31, 1954
Dr. Ludwig von Mises
777 West End Avenue
New York 25, N.Y.
Dear Dr. von Mises:
Bill Peterson, who lives in Short Hills, and who is on
leave from Brooklyn Polytech., just told me on the phone
that beginning tomorrow, and also in summer, he will teach
some courses in economics at that division of N.Y.U.'s
graduate school where you are teaching.
I wonder if there might not be an opportunity for me to
teach a course or two in international relations. This is
my field and I do not know of anyone -except some professors
of Georgetown U. (and those with qualification) who is
willing to teach international relations on the basis of
our Constitution, and limited government. I am, and I can.
Perhaps, you might be able to use your influence to give
me the proper introduction. (I am working hard on my rather
extensive book, THE PRIMACY OF THE INDIVIDUAL, but I believe
that it will take the better part of the year to accomplish
it.)
I was pleased to learn that you have become an adviser
of the NAM. There are $ 5 million available, I was told.
the publications of the NAM have impressed me as negative,
childish, and ineffective to the degree that I wondered
if the NAM was infiltrated by some very shrewd character.
If ever you hold a seminar here in New Jersey, please do
notify me. I'd like to participate in it.
With kind regards to you
and Mrs. von Mises,
395 Grove Street
Sincerely yours,
Upper Montclair, N.J.
