I'm sure that by substituting "explodes all econometrics as built on rickety foundations" you can say sub- stantially the same thing, without opening yourself to counterthrusts with quotations by the reviewers. Here, and in a few similar cases, you can lose readers that might otherwise be persuaded. As you well know, I should be among the last to suggest that you change an opin- ion; but I'd like to see the book reach others than those who already may be counted among your admirers, and you should not too easily give weapons to the opposition.
