Dear Mr. von Mises:
After I had written the
letter enclosed, I heard from our Trade
Department regarding your book on Nazism.
The general feeling of the editors is that
the books which are selling these days
are those of more current interest; Shirer's
BERLIN DIARY, for example, is the present
outstanding seller. The time for publish-
ing a more solid book which reviews the
growth of Nazism would, they feel, be in
the future, probably after the close of
the war when the public is viewing the
entire scene less emotionally and more
objectively. It is with regret that they
feel they must decline your book at this
time.
I am returning both manu-
scripts herewith.
Sincerely yours,
James Manager Can loor
