Ludwig von Mises to Albert Hahn Letter, March 12, 1949
March 12, 1949
Doctor Albert Hahn
830 Park Avenue
New York 21, N. Y.
Dear Doctor Hahn:
Thanks for sending me an advance copy of your "Economics
of Illusion." I am delighted to see your various essays, published over
many years, reprinted and the collection enlarged and enriched by the
addition of new articles. The title you gave to the volume is very well
chosen. What you are dealing with is the most pernicious illusion of
our age, the great fallacy that leads astray all governments and all
political parties.
There is hardly any more urgent task facing an economist
in these days than to debunk all the varieties of the inflationist and
"expansionist" doctrines and to unmask the syllogisms and contradictions
in the writings of their authors. Your new book is a very valuable
contribution to this end. I congratulate you heartily and I hope that
the volume will also be reed by those whose power of judgment is dimmed
by Gesellianism and Keynesianism.
With all good wishes
Cordially yours
