Dear von Mises
Recently at a small meeting of some thorough-going, dyed-in-the=
wool libertarians, it was suggested that there should be in America a
Society of Individualists. Those present opined that this was an
excellent idea.
In spite of the plethora of organizations for this or that,
there is not one dedicated exclusively to the most important task of
all - the preservation of the idea of individual freedom.
With the objective of forming such an organization, the enclosed
suggestions are sent to you as one of the staunchest individualists
of them all, to ask your advice on some points.
Will you as a special favor, look over the "propositous" on the
following pages, then do these things: 1) tell us whether you approve
of the basic idea: 2) make any changes, additions, deletions, in the
content or wording: 3) if you do not like this name for the organiza-
tion - Society of Individualists - suggest another one ; 4) suggest
other outstanding individualists who would be suitable for the board
and advisory committee; 5) most important, tell us that you will
accept this sincere invitation to serve on the national board. (There
is no obligation nor financial responsibility whatever attached to
your acceptance.)
I do not know who should or will be the officers. That is for
the board to decide. I am willing, if they want me, to act as
temporary executive secretary or some such, but we should have a
better-known and better-qualified person as head.
I am firmly of the opinion that this projected organization can
be productive of great good for America and for the people as a whole.
Your cooperation in the ways indicated above will be most helpful
in the cause of freedom and will be deeply appreciated by us all.
Yours for Individualism,
Frank Chadarov
