Dear Dr. Von Mises:
Thank you for taking time to see me when you were here at the
U. of Plano.
As I explained at that time, I have an interest in the Economics
Dept. from a long range point of view. I am specifically thinking
of the establishment of a graduate dept. at some date in the future.
That is why I feel that we need your advise on how to develop and
expand the Economics Department.
I would specifically like your advise on what we should do to
develop the Economics Dept. of the U. of Plano.
At some point in the future we will have the finances to add
another person to the teaching staff. I would like to know who
you would recommend that we consider. Hopefully, we shall some day
need several persons for our Economics Dept. At that point I would
like to be able to say to President Morris that you have recommended
certain persons and be able to give him a list of men you consider
qualified to teach..
Speaking for myself, I would like to see the U. of Plano publish
your writings.. But I understand that there are legal questions on
some of your books even though they are now out of print. I would
like to know if it is possible for us to legally reprint any of your
books and if so, which ones.. If I may be of service to you, in any
way, on the publication of books where there are legal complications
please feel free to call on me.. With the apparent decline of the
influence of Lord Keynes it is more important than ever that your
writings be available and to the general public as well as the man
who teaches economics at some school.
Yours truly,
Howard Lydick
