Having always been interested especially in the economic and social causes and effects of legal institutions I devoted my writings chiefly to those legal problems which are closely interrelated with the modern social and economic development. Currency law, foreign exchange control, the law of stock exchange and banking,financial law, the law of trusteeship,international private law, and legal philosophy were in the first place the subjects of my publi- cations. At the same time I occupied myself thoroughly with political economics and sociology themselves. For many years I belonged in Vienna to a circle of social scientists who gathered on the one hand round Professor Hans Kelsen (legal philoso- phy and sociology) and on the other hand round Professor Ludwig v.Mises (economics and sociology) and took part in their meetings where problems in those spheres of science were lectured on and discussed. In recent years I delivered lectu- res on subjects of financial and international law on the invitation of various lawyers' associations in Vienna.
