W.J. Holmen, Jr. to Ludwig von Mises Letter, October 7, 1970

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. 08903
October 7, 1970
Dr. Ludwig von Mises
777 West End Avenue
New York, New York
Dear Dr. von Mises:
Instead of sending directly to you a
set of the papers presented at the meeting of the Mont Pelerin
Society in Munich this past September, Dr. Orth of the Siemens
Company, who handled all of the arrangements, sent the papers
to me instead. I am, therefore, forwarding them to you with
this note.
As I wrote Margit from Munich, we had
a very good meeting, marred principally by your absence and
that of your lovely wife. To us, who are relatively new in
the Society, a meeting is not quite a real one unless you
both are there.
As you already know, Milton Friedman
was elected President this year, and somehow I am under the
impression that this is the first time an American has ever
received this honor. Moreover, you also know, I am sure,
that there will be no meeting next year, but there will be
great plans for a celebration of the 25th anniversary of
the founding of the Society by having a meeting in Switzerland
sometime during 1972.
Please know that both Elsa and I send
our warmest good wishes to you both, and that I am, Sir,
Cordially yours,
W. J. Holman, Jr.
