Professor Ludwig von Mises
777 Westend Avenue
New York 25, N. Y., U. S. A.
Dear Professor Mises:
Please excuse me for my long silence. I miss
you and your seminar very much. How I wish there
were no such a long distance between New York and
Tokyo!
I am very much interested in your recent
work, The Ultimate Foundation of Economic Science.
I earnestly wish to translate it into Japanese so
that many of my fellow countrymen may be benefited
by distinct understanding of epistemology and method-
ology in economics.
If you, as author, give me permission to
translate The Ultimate Foundation of Economic Science
into Japanese and publish it in Japan, I would be very
much obliged. On what terms could you give me the
permission?
Enclosed please find a copy of the formal
permission from the William Volker Fund as holder
of copyright on The Ultimate Foundation of Economic
Science.
Our study group of economics in Tokyo will be
started in October by a commemorative lecture by
Dr. Katsuichi Yamamoto, fist economist in Japan that
recognized the importance of your theory on economic
calculation. He is now visiting Professor Roepke and
West Germany.
Please remember me kindly to Mrs. Mises.
Very sincerely yours,
Toshio Murata
