Winnifred Brandsma to Floyd A. Jordan Letter, February 4, 1965
COPY FOR DR. VON MISES
February 4, 1965
Mr. Floyd A. Jordan
7319 Latona N.E.
Seattle 15, Washington
Dear Sir:
You wrote us on February 2 and we wrote you on February
3;
our
letters crossed As you know from our February 3 letter, our
stock of Middle-of-t he-Road Policy Leads to Socialism" is down
to 85 copies, which we are sending you. Find enclosed our check
for the difference between your check of $37.50 and what we are
shipping.

We are also sending you a copy of PLANNING FOR FREEDOM.
We think you will be particularly interested in the first essay in
the book which has the title Planning for Freedom.' That ought
also to be very suitable for Home Education" purposes.
We are very sympathetic towards whoever is working for a
good cause, such as "Citizens for Goldwater of King County, 'and
I am authorized to give you a special price of $1.00 each in
quantities of 10 or more for the book PLANNING FOR FREEDOM.
We are aware that some of the other essays, such as "Profit
and Loss, might be more technical than will serve your purpose,
and maybe you ought not to buy the whole book. If you decide not
to do that, we might make arrangements for low cost offset printing
locally of "Middle-of-the-Road Policy Leads to Socialism" and
other Von Mises's essays that you might like to have.
We are reluctant to establish the policy that others can
freely reprint the essays, because we believe that Dr. von Mises
is entitled to his regular royalties on anything republished.
We hold that Dr. von Mises is the greatest living economist,
and many of the outstanding free-enterprise thinkers throughout the
world have really obtained their inspiration from his teaching,
lecturing and writing.
Adam Smith and David Ricardo, the great Classical economists,
to whom free enterprise people appeal, were also "saints" (par-
ticularly Ricardo) for Karl Marx. That is conclusive proof that
although some of the greatest men of all time, Smith and Ricardo
were not definitely clear and right on the most fundamental issues
which bedevil the world at the present time.
