Max S. Johnson to Ludwig von Mises Letter, April 3, 1958
UNITED STATES ARMY WAR COLLEGE
CARLISLE BARRACKS, PENNSYLVANIA
OFFICE OF THE COMMANDANT
3 April 1958
Dear Professor Mises:
The Army War College requests the honor of your participation
in its fourth annual National Strategy Seminar, to be conducted at
Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, from 10 to 13 June 1958.
Remembering your expression of regret at your previous inability
to accept a similar invitation and encouraged by the warm endorsements
of the Seminar received from past participants, I am encouraged to re-
new our invitation, with the hope that this year you will be able to attend.
The purpose of the Seminar remains essentially the same. We will
have approximately eighty distinguished guests, mostly civilians, to dis-
cuss with the students and faculty of the College important problems af-
fecting our future national security. To encourage frank discussion, the
Seminar will be conducted under the security classification of SECRET.
Remarks by participants will not be divulged outside the College without
prior consent. We are confident that the association and free exchange of
ideas will again make the Seminar the high point of the academic year and
a pleasurable and stimulating experience for all.
There is inclosed a summary of the purpose of the Seminar, the
lectures to be presented, and the speakers anticipated.
While at Carlisle Barracks you will be the guest of the College.
All arrangements for your accommodations will be made by the College
unless you specifically request otherwise.
