Dear Professor von Mises:
Many thanks for your note of August 17th. It is most kind of you to
ask Professor Leoni to send me an invitation for the Stresa meeting
I very much hope that I can come
I don't think that there will be any complications with Yale It will
cost about $7, 000.00 to reset HUMAN ACTION. Before getting into
the project, I asked a foundation if they would be willing to advance
this sum of money, with the understanding that we would repay it as
the book is sold. They have agreed in principle, but cannot make a
final committment until their directors meet, which will be the latter
part of September. They suggested that we not enter into a firm con-
tract with Yale until this formality has been taken care of
I had lunch today with Eugene Davidson, who has just come back from
Europe. He was in his usual good spirits and seemed to be well. He
is just finishing up his manuscript "The Trial of the Germans" which we
plan to publish next spring. It will be an important book, and represents
an immense amount of work.
I hope that you and your wife enjoy your stay in Lugano. I have been
there several times, to visit Max Picard who lives in a little place
named Neggio, some ten miles or so from Lugano I send my warmest
regards to your wife and you
Sincerely yours,
HENRY REGNERY
President
