Henry Regnery to Ludwig von Mises Letter, October 10, 1966
October 10, 1966
Professor Ludwig von Mises
777 West End Avenue
New York, N. Y. 10025
Dear Professor von Mises:
This is in reply to your letter of October 4th.
I am sorry to report that we still do not have finished copies of
our edition of HUMAN ACTION. As you probably know, the
Conservative Book Club is using a fairly substantial quantity of
the book, and suggested that we combine our printing with theirs.
Their printer, whom we had never dealt with before, has been
extremely slow, and although we were promised finished copies
last July, it now looks as though we cannot expect finished books
before November. I greatly regret this long delay, which has
hurt us more than anyone else, but there is absolutely nothing we
can do about it. It would be useless to take the book to another
printer, and since we don't normally deal with the printer who
has the book, we are not in a good position to put pressure on them.
We should have books, however, next month.
I will write to Dr. Hessen and explain the situation. When I am
next in New York, which I hope will be within the next four or
Henry
five weeks, I would like very much to have an opportunity to spend
an hour or two with you, among other things to talk about one or
Regnery
two possible paperbacks from chapters of HUMAN ACTION.
Company
I hope that you have been well and I send my best regards.
PUBLISHERS
Sincerely yours,
114 West Illinois Street
