Professor Ludwig von Mises

Dear Dr. Mises:
Thank you for your letter of June 19. I was sorry
to hear that "istress von Mises had to submit to the same ope
ration than you, but I was glad to hear that she is recove-
ring very well.
Under separate cover I let you have clippings on
the 11 Le Chaos du Planisme 11 as seen by Luxenbourg reviewers.
- The articles 11 Le professeur Mises contre 1'interventionnis-
me 11 and 11 Incore le chaos du planisme 11 are by Nicolas Margue
a former professor of History and former Ministre de l'Educa-
tion Nationale of Luxembourg. He is a clerical conservative,
who knows a lot about Economics, but opposes liberalism in
several respects. But he hates Socialism still more. Never-
theless his article has been drawing great attention to my
translation of your book.
- The article 11 Un Livre à lire 11 is by Paul Bohr, Secre-
tary to the Directeur Général of Luxenbourg's biggest steelpro-
ducer, the Arbed. Before the war, Mister Bohr was secretary
of the International IT Stahlkartell 11 headed by the Luxem-
bourg steelman Emile Mayrisch.
- The German article is by Carlo Hemmer, a good liberal and
economist; he is secretary general to the Luxembourg Fédéra-
tion des Industriels. I am sorry that he wrongly wrote that I
am a member of the Mont Pelerin: I informed him once that I
had been attending the Seelisberg meeting in order to capti-
vate his interest.
I dare hope that this small book of yours will in-
duce many French speaking or reading students and other people
to read your other French versions.
Thank you kindly for informing on The Free Man's
Library. I immediately wrote to the Foundation in order to se-
cure a copy.
I was interested in hearing that you will go to Ber
lin with the Mont Pelerin. It was the first time I heard a-
bout this meeting. Unfortunately I cannot comme there: I am
too much in debts owing to my new house. - Should you and
Mistress von Mises come through Luxembourg, kindly let me
know: my wife and I shall be very pleased to welcome you here
And so will are two daughters. - I shall write Dr. Hundda to
