Dear Dr. von Mises:
Kindly find herewith a clipping of the article I wrote in December in
ypur honor in the Luxembourg liberal paper. I am late in remitting the
clipping to you owing to the fact that I spent some time in bed with
one of my 11 Hitler-made 11 souvenirs. Fortunately, I am feeling well
again now.
The article deserves two explanatory remarks:
1. I did not chosse the title if Ideen bestimmen die Wektgeschichte. Re-
naissance des Liberalismus, 11 but only 11 L. von Mises. Ein AchtzigjÀhriger
im Dienst des Liberalismus..."
The editor of the paper had endeavored to give the article the widest
possible publicity as a result of a polemic that had been waged for weeks
between the liberal paper and the clerical press around the fact that
capitalism has been exploiting the masses for 150 years. The polemic had
been won, I must confess, without even an intervention of mine, by a
young disciple of mine ( and so of yours ), a young businessman and Vice-
President of the Luxbg. Liberal Party. The young man had been quoting
several times from your work and SO my article, without any intention
of mine! happened to be the culminating point in the polemic.
Immediately afterwards the 11 learned 11 Dr. der Soziologie II ( a priest )
who had been doing most in the clerical attack on liberalism, stopped
his interventions.
2. Unfortunately, the editor of the paper had dropped all my quotations
from your American books: PLANNING FOR FREEDOM, THEORY AND HISTORY,
etc
Looking forward to the pleasure of meeting you and Mistress von Mises
in Belgium next September, I remain, with my best wishes and kindest re-
gards,
Yours sincerely,
