Preliminary Notice to all Members
Accommodation
The Venezuelan Organising Committee under Dr. Nicomedes Zuloaga have provision-
ally booked accommodation for 300 people at the Macuto-Sheraton Hotel. The
hotel is on the coast about 30 Kms. by road from Caracas and 12 Kms from the
International airport (where participants will be collected).
Subjects for discussion
The general theme of the meeting will be "Economic Problems and Developing
Countries" and papers will be invited on such aspects as: markets or planning,
foreign trade, aid, primary products, exchange rates; inflation, public
expenditure, tax policy; agriculture, industrialisation; population, education,
technology, income distribution.
Two sessions are being reserved to discuss papers prepared in honour of Bruno
Leoni and Daniel Villey.
There will be the customary reception, sight-seeing and entertainments.
Financial arrangements
All rooms are double-bedded and the cost per day including breakfast and other
meals will be $29 per person for single occupancy and $23.0 per person for
double occupancy. Hotel expenses for speakers will be met from local funds
and all other members will receive a subsidy depending on numbers but probably
between a quarter and a third of the normal hotel charge.
The Venezuelan Committee has raised a further fund towards the cost of travel by
Board members and invited speakers. Other members may need to seek financial
assistance with travel expenses elsewhere. The return fare (economy) to
Caracas is approximately $800 from Paris or London, and $350 from New York.
