Dear Dr. Mises:
Mrs. Vogel has about finished repasting "Middle-of-the-
Road Policy Leads to Socialism" in order to have another 10,000
run. This will be done by offset printing. This edition will be
radically cheaper to put out than the original one.
In our customary thrifty manner, we have condensed the
material so that we could have four pages of advertising in the
book, including a full-page ad on the outside back cover for PFF.

On the first page, in the footnote, there is a sentence
which reads: "A French translation is in preparation by Editions SEDIF,
Paris." We plan to change this sentence so that the words "in prepar-
ation" are omitted. This simple omission leaves the sentence making
good sense; however, we cannot set any new type under our present
plan, and the simplest thing to do is to omit the two words, "in
preparation." Have you any objection to this emendation, which
assumes that the French edition was actually put out?

We do not know when the printer will be ready with the
new issue, but assuming he will be ready before you speak in Evanston
in May, would it be wise for us to try to sell "Middle-of-the-Road
Policy Leads to Socialism" and PLANNING FOR FREEDOM at a book booth
in the hallway or at the entrance of the room?
Of course, the publications we have are minor compared
with your major works. Will your major books be offered for sale,
and by whom? If that is to be done, then we would probably wish to
approach whoever is in charge and ask them whether or not they would
also include "Middle" and PFF.
Ten thousand copies will cost $215 plus stitching cost.
The new edition will have what is known as a self-cover and be
5-1/2 X 8-1/2. The fanciness is being eliminated so that we can
offer attractive bulk sale prices.
The single copy retail price is to be kept at 25c; for
100 copies the price drops to 15c; and for 1,000 copies we will
probably drop the price to 10c.

I am enclosing an extra copy of this letter so that your
reply can be easily made by making marginal notes. You will find
enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope for your convenience.
Yours very truly,
Fredenick Mymayer
