Max S. Johnson to Ludwig von Mises Letter, March 15, 1957
ARMY WAR COLLEGE
CARLISLE BARRACKS, PENNSYLVANIA
OFFICE OF THE COMMANDANT
15 March 1957
Dear Professor Von Mises:
The Army War College requests the honor of your partici-
pation in its third annual National Strategy Seminar, to be conducted
at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, from 11 to 14 June, 1957.
The mission of the College is to prepare selected Army
officers for highest level Army command and staff positions.
The
student body of two hundred, is composed of relatively senior
officers, primarily of the Army, though a few officers of the Navy,
Air Force and Marines are also included, together with a few
civilians from certain national agencies.
We expect to have with us approximately seventy distin-
guished guests, mostly civilians, to discuss with the students and
faculty of the College important problems affecting our future
national security. We are confident that the association and free
exchange of ideas will again make the Seminar the high point of
the academic year and a pleasurable and stimulating experience
for all. To further frank discussion, the Seminar will be conducted
under the security classification of SECRET. Remarks by partici-
pants will not be dilvulged outside the College without prior consent.
I am inclosing a summary of the purpose of the Seminar,
the lectures to be presented, and the speakers anticipated.
