Dear Margit:
I'm enclosing a xerox copy of the memorial which I wrote for the
American Economic Review. It will probably be published in the June issue.
Such delay is quite customary. The December 1973 issue contained the
memorial for Frank Knight who had died in April 1972. I hope that you are
satisfied with what I wrote. This is not an easy task, because as an unsigned
communication such memorials should not be sentimental and they must also
avoid statements that might be criticized as overstatements.
If I have committed any serious error, please let me know. I suppose
I will receive galley proofs and may have an opportunity to make corrections.
Mitzi and I are leaving this week for Europe and shall not return
until February 18. I intend to see you soon after my return.
With best wishes and regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
Filet
Fritz Machlup
