Margit von Mises to Fritz Machlup Letter, February 4, 1974
February 4, .974
Dr. Fritz Machlup
Director, International
Finance Section
Princeton University
Dear Fritz:
Thank you very much for sending me a xerox copy of
the memorial article you wrote for the American Economic
Review. It is very well written, taken into account the
great difficulties you must have had to suppress your feel-
ings of warnth and sympathy.
You ask me for correction of any errors. You know
I am not an economist and never claim to be one. So I
asked Professor and Mrs. Greaves ( Bettina) who really
are the experta concerning the dates and happenings in
Iu's career. A few things you omitted may not have been
known to you. They wrote a new copy with some insertions
and I, in full understanding of your position as spokes-
man of the Economic Association can only tell you: Take
it or leave it, or - take as much as you see fit and leave
what does not suit you.
I was very busy these last weeks with preparing Lu's
library for shipment to Hillsdale College. I just returned
from there, after having delivered a little speech at the
dedication of the L.V.M. Memorial Library. It may interest
you to hear that Dr. Ayau in Guatemala has dedicated the
library of the Universidad Francesco Marroquin also as a
Memorial to Iu.
I hope to see you soon in N. Y. How is Mizzi?
Kindest regards
