Lawrence Fertig to Ludwig von Mises Memorandum, June 29, 1971
Memorandum from LAWRENCE FERTIG
June 29, 1971
Dear Lu,
I really haven't any news to give you
because everything is quiet here in New York.
I lectured at the Foundation last week
and was very pleased with the group of students.
Some of them rode down to New York with me after
the lecture, among them two teachers from Western
universities, They were very knowledgeable, and
I believe were profiting greatly from the seminars.
I do hope you and Margit are enjoying
the clean air and cool weather in the mountains.
It hasn't been too bad in New York, although the
air itself is always foul. But the weather has
not been too hot. Anyway we enjoy it greatly out
at Sands Point.
I don't know whether you get the Wall
Street Journal up there, so I am enclosing two
interesting clippings. The review of "The
Chamberlain Cabinet" is most informative and sheds
light on the events of that era, which I know
interests you profoundly. Also the article on
tariffiseems to me quite good, and its persuasive
power to the average man very high.
Also enclosed is a reprint of my talk
in Palm Beach. I'm quite sure I sent you a mimeo-
graphed copy of it, but anyway I enclose this, which
you can use as you see fit.
Bertha and I send our love to you and
Margit, and I'11 get in touch with you by telephone
soon.
